We have a ONE year old!!

Last Friday, May 10th, our little Luke turned the big ONE! I can't believe we have a one year old! This year has gone by so fast and John Paul and I have enjoyed every minute of our little, or not so little anymore, boy. We are loving the stage he is at now.  He is learning so much so quickly and he has made his biggest milestone yet....WALKING! At 11 months, we were visiting my mom at her office.  She had cheerios in her hand, and he decided that he was walking to Grandma to get them.  I was in shock and luckily he did it again for me to get it on video.  He was so proud of himself.  After that day he would only walk a few steps, but on his birthday he decided that walking was much faster than crawling, so since last weekend he's been walking everywhere.  Our world has opened up to so many more things....from reaching for things off of the top of the table, to throwing things in the toilet....we have new adventures everyday. And, I feel like we're baby proofing every second! Although he's in everything, he just keeps our days interesting.  He really loves playing catch lately and hitting the baseball off of the tee! He is such a little talker, not much we can understand yet, but he loves to babble to us and himself with a big smile on his face!

May 10, 2012 and May 10, 2013

I spent so much time planning for his "Sock Monkey" themed birthday party, that I was so excited once that day had come.  I decided to get crafty and made pretty much everything for his party with the exception of the cake.  Many of our friends and family came and Luke had the best time! Our house has never been so full, so Luke felt pretty special! We also had some beautiful birthday pictures taken by D Campbell Photography!
DeAnna did an amazing job and definitely captured Luke's silly personality!

Peek-a-boo!

This is my favorite of the whole bunch!

On Luke's actual birthday, we wanted to do something fun....so we went to Chuck E. Cheese.  He DID have more fun than he is showing in these pictures. LOL

Time to Party!

I made the pennant banner around the table from different fabrics, and I also made his Happy Birthday banner with scrapbook paper and ribbon.

John Paul and I both worked on this one....a balloon wreath! It wasn't easy finding blue and red tiny balloons, but when we did I was so excited!

Every month, we take Luke's picture and display it.  This time it was complete....all 12 months!

His cake was made by "Sweet Cakes by Jessica".  It was beautiful and delicious!

Luke didn't actually get his own sock monkey until his party from his great-grandmother, so we borrowed some and the wagon from his cousins!

 Luke's own little cake!

And....there goes the cake!

Luke decided that it was more fun to fling and rub icing everywhere than eat much of it! But he had fun!

Luke and his 2nd cousin Jenna!

About a month before Luke's birthday my mom had some pictures of Luke, Cayden, and Rylan in the Bluebonnets.  They were taken by Lauren's pictures and Lauren did a fantastic job!

Rylan - almost 2 years old

Cayden - 3 1/2 years old

Luke stood alone for the longest time that evening!

Cousins = Best Friends!

Luke loved the bluebonnets!

Here are some more pictures from "The Adventures with a One Year Old"!

Luke loves his new nap mat that Grandma and Papa got him for his birthday.  He looks so cute lying in it.

Isn't this the cutest Mother's Day gift you've ever seen!? His face tells it all!

We can't wait to see what this year brings us with him. God has truly blessed us with this joyful little boy and he is our greatest accomplishment!
